Litter on Banks Unacceptable
It is unfortunate that reports of rowers
littering the banks of our waterways have again made their way to the
Rowing Victoria Office.
We ask that crews make an effort to ensure
that water bottles and gear are returned to the boat shed following
training, and not left by the water.
James Tomkins says: "As frequent
users of our rivers we need to take a leading role in caring for and
improving the state of our waterways."
Storm Water Drain Claims Eight!
Crews are reminded to exercise caution
during heavy rain in the wake or a serious accident on the Yarra Yarra
last week.
While passing a storm water drain
downstream from Macrobertson Bridge (near Burnley Golf
Course), an eight was pushed onto the bridge support by the incoming flow
of water. The resulting damage from seven seat to bow caused the boat to
break in two.
All crew members made it to shore unharmed
and most oars were recovered.
Please take care around storm water drains
during wet weather.
