Guestroom
– Carol Cooke, Rower and Aspiring Paralympian
By Leon Compton and Miranda Tetlow - ABC
Darwin
For
most athletes, you'd imagine that a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis would
mark the beginning of the end...
But
for our guest today, it seems to have had the opposite effect...
Carol
Cooke has spent most of her life competing as an elite athlete: she was a
swimmer, then a triathlete in Canada, but it was after she was diagnosed
with MS that she began rowing for her new home country, Australia.
Carol's
got a few achievements under her belt. She's the woman behind the 24 hour
mega swim, an event which takes place all over Australia and raises money
for MS Australia. She's also the force behind a series of scholarships
for people living with MS, and has raised countless dollars for the
charity.
