About the Role:

Join Red Shed's dynamic team as a Rowing Coach and make a significant impact on our community's rowing future. Collaborating closely with our other full-time and casual rowing coaches you'll run sessions for all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Coach rowers of various levels and groups including Learn-To-Row, Juniors, Adults, Para and Performance rowers as assigned by the Head Rowing Coach. 
  • Deliver fun rowing programs that cater to all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training plans as directed by the leadership team. 
  • Participate in induction sessions, professional development opportunities, coach meetings, and safety training activities as required. 
  • Attend all training sessions, camps, and events as directed by the team. 
  • Undertake any other rowing-related duties as assigned. 
  • Promote the Red Shed programs positively within the community. 
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure the success of all rowing programs. 
  • Nurture a culture of excellence, resilience, and inclusivity among participants. 
  • Adhere to and implement Red Shed's Policies and Procedures. 
  • Take proactive measures to ensure the safety of all participants, including identifying and reporting risks. 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in rowing coaching at various levels. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of individuals. 
  • Passion for community engagement and the transformative power of rowing. 
  • Knowledge of adaptive rowing practices is desirable. 
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Check (essential). 
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Accreditation. 
  • Desired - Rowing Australia Level 1, 2, or 3 Coach Accreditation. 
  • Current Boat Licence (any state or territory).

  • Relevant Coaching Accreditation

Assistant Rowing Coach / Sport Assistant Rowing

Are you looking to join a small and vibrant rowing coaching team?  To build on your rowing squad or rowing coaching experience?  If this sounds like you, read on.

The Fintona rowing program has been operating for almost 40 years and has gone from strength to strength during that time. Our program has produced some outstanding results, including last season culminating with our highest number of A finalists at the Head of School Girls’ Regatta.  We are currently seeking coaches for a variety of positions to join the Fintona rowing team for the 2025/2026 season.  

Administering a rowing program, under the direction of the Rowing Coordinator and Head Rowing Coach, our Assistants need to be available during school terms, some school holidays, during January camps and weekend regattas occurring throughout the season and at various locations.

The successful applicants will have a Level 1 Rowing coaching qualification, an effective knowledge of Rowing Victoria and Rowing Australia policies and guidelines, clear communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships. Previous experience coaching in school rowing is required for our more experienced coaching positions.

ABOUT YOU

Head of Rowing (Permanent Position)

We are seeking an experienced Head of Rowing to join our team at St Michael’s Collegiate School in Hobart. Based at the Derwent Mercantile Rowing Club and reporting to the Deputy Principal, this is a part-time position of 0.8 FTE, responsible for coaching and coordinating the school's rowing program, as well as overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the rowing fleet.
 
What we’re looking for

  • Significant coaching experience in competitive rowing in a school or club level
  • Strong technical knowledge of boat maintenance and repair, including the ability to perform routine servicing and repairs
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team of coaches and student rowers
  • Passion for developing young athletes and helping them reach their full potential
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications (minimum Level 1 NCAS Rowing Accreditation)

Assistant Coach

The Role

Part time - 15 hours per week

The Assistant Coach will be a club representative for inspiring, motivating and driving up the standard and competitive participation of the club.  They will be respected, approachable, experienced and fair, able to manage a diverse and wide range of members. They will have club culture and participation as a core focus.

The Assistant Coach will run club-wide rowing program based on recognised coaching standards and philosophy established by the Head Coach.  They will be willing to coach and share information to all club members, with a passion for excellence, directed toward recruiting, educating, coaching, nurturing and retaining athletes and coaches as life-long MRC members.

Potential for role to be lengthened beyond 4 months, including greater input to design, implement and continuously improve the rowing program with the Head Coach.

Skills

  • People management, including coordinating and communicating with members of all levels.
  • Advanced, evolving knowledge and application of rowing technique and athletic performance.
  • Negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook/Email) and use of productivity apps to delivery and manage the program (eg. TeamApp).
  • Report preparation and presentation. 

Experience

  • At least 3 years of Coaching experience in a Club/School program. 
  • Track record of increasing participation in a program year-on-year.
  • Track record progress and improved performance year-on-year.
  • Track record of simultaneously coordinating more than 50 active participants in a program.

A new photographic website run by rowers for rowers, Australian Rowing Images website (ARI) , is seeking to contract with photographers to cover major Victorian regattas in 2023. Photographers need to have their own equipment (although may borrow equipment from the proprietor), have an ABN and current working with children check, be robust given it is an outdoors task, and be able to upload their images regularly from the regatta to the cloud for processing by others same day onto the site. A daily rate will be negotiated depending on experience and regatta venue. Regattas to be covered include Victorian Championships, major school events and Australian Henley.

Amateur photographers with a rowing background are encouraged to apply. Although photographers will be acknowledged, copyright in the photos will pass to ARI.

If you enjoy being on the river socialising and coaching adult rowers who are looking to improve their fitness, then this is an ideal position for you.

Work regular weekly shifts from as little as two hours to four and a half hours up to 20 hours per week.

Applicants must attain a Rowing Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation and a Rowing Victoria Coxswain Accreditation (both online courses) prior to starting. 

Sessions pay $30 per hour / per crew.
Plus superannuation.
