UNDERAGE SUCCESS - VICTORIAN PATHWAY 8+

A massive congratulations to our Pathway 8+ crews, who were both victorious in their interstate finals in Canberra on Monday! 💙🤍

We are very excited to see what the future holds for these promising young rowers, and hope to see them in the Big White V into the future!

A special mention to our reserves - Daisy Simpson-Kerr, Annabel Barnett, Oliver Ashby, and Felix Lynch - who also played an important role in the crews’ success!

Lastly, well done to all Victorian rowers who attended the underage trials in Canberra, we hope to see some familiar names announced in Rowing Australia Underage Teams.

VICSPORT - 2021 VICTORIAN SPORT AWARDS

We are very proud to have the Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta as a finalist for the 'My Sport Live Community Sporting Event of the Year'.

An annual spectacle which would not be the same without the effort of the whole community, on and off the water, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 restrictions in 2021. Thank you all!

A huge congratulations also to Andrew Guerin for being selected as a finalist for the 'etrainu Community Official of the Year'. Best of luck!

Finalists for the 2021 Victorian Sport Awards are assessed according to the respective eligibility criteria by an esteemed voting panel comprising Olympians, former athletes and State Sporting Associations CEOs.

COVID MANAGEMENT UPDATE

Restrictions RE: COVID management have eased with the following to be noted and actioned:

VACCINATION AND CHECK IN

  • Club members won’t be required to have two doses or show their vaccination status before entering their clubhouse or physical recreation facility, e.g. gyms, ergo rooms, social rooms.
  • The requirement for staff and patrons to check-in using the Service Victoria app will end, with operators not required to keep any attendance records or maintain a COVID-19 Check-in Marshal.
  • The existing two-dose and three-dose vaccination mandates for workers, e.g bar staff are retained.

FACE MASKS

  • Face masks will no longer be required for hospitality workers/ bar staff.
  • Face masks are strongly recommended when you can’t physically distance.

COVIDSAFE PLAN

  • All workplaces will still require a COVIDSafe Plan.
  • Please ensure Hand sanitiser is available. 1 case per competing club will be available for collection at the bow numbers tent at upcoming regattas.

 Stay Safe, Stay Rowing!

WATERWAY ACCESS & INCIDENT REPORTING

With lockdowns lifted and access to the waterways now open to all, our rivers and lakes are becoming increasingly congested. Could all waterway users please reacquaint themselves with their local rules; traffic direction, turning points, stationary obstacles etc.

It's more than likely that the increased water traffic will also lead to an increase in the number of incidents. So that RV, Maritime Safety Victoria and now, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority can support the community in providing safe waterways, please register all incidents via the RV Report an Incident tile on the home page of the RV website. A consistent management of reporting will assist us in ensuring we are kept safe on the water and the chances of equipment damage is mitigated.

BIKE USAGE ALONG THE YARRA RIVER

With the great number of coaches coaching from bicycles along the Yarra River it is important to ensure that this is always done in a safe and considerate manner to all other pathway users.

A friendly reminder:

  • Helmets must be worn
  • When stopping, pull completely off the path
  • Do not block the path
  • Do not use mobile phones while riding
