Guidelines for the safe return to rowing during COVID-19

Following the latest state government announcement in regard to the gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions we are all excited to get back to the sport we love. However to ensure a safe and healthy return to Rowing for all, Rowing Victoria strongly encourages Clubs, athletes and supporters to follow the linked guidlines.

Rowing Victoria Virtual Regatta Series

Round 2 Virtual Regatta - Results:

Congratulations to the Winners and all who competed in Round 2 of the Rowing Victoria Virtual Regatta on the weekend. It was wonderful to see so many of the Victorian Rowing community fighting out on what was a wonderful morning of racing. A full list of the results can be found here.

Virtual Regatta – Round 3 

The Rowing Victoria Virtual Regatta is back next Saturday. The 3rd and final round of the series will see a 500m sprint race!

The RVVR is a free online regatta that will be run fortnightly at 9am on the Saturdays listed below using the Program RowPro. All ages and abilities are welcome!

  Dredging
 

Dredging and Metro Tunnel Works 

The dredging at the VRA landing is scheduled to start on the 18th of May and will be completed by the 10th of June. The start date is dependent on the processing time of a work permit for the works. To ensure the safety of the public and the river users, and to ensure that any Princes Bridge based rowers can access the river (this is subject to COVID-19 restrictions, with latest information available https://www.rowingvictoria.asn.au/news/20420-rowing-victoria-update-covid-19/)

Metro Tunnel Cross Passage Works

Works on the Peppercorn Lawn adjacent to Princes Bridge are due to start on the 5th May and will run for approximately 12 months, although all major works will be completed by February 2021. These works are required to create a cross passage between the two metro tunnels for emergency services and safety reasons.

The attached overview shows the revised work area and the haulage route. All access will be behind the sheds, and there should be no change to parking arrangements. Working hours will be 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and 7:00am to 1:00pm Saturday.

Former first round draft pick and AFL footballer, Lance Picioane established Love Me Love You in 2013 to help young adults take control of their mental wellbeing. As a teenager and through his AFL career, Lance experienced depression and anxiety. Love Me Love You programs are based on Lance’s experiences, and educating the community on staying mentally well.

 

THE JOURNEY (45 minutes + discussion/question time):

 

This powerful and engaging presentation utilises the lived experiences of Love Me Love You CEO Lance Picioane. It helps to build awareness of mental health challenges, through exploring Lance’s journey. The aim is to raise awareness, reduce stigma and provide participants with simple coping mechanisms that can help on a day to day basis including, support networks, mindfulness and wellbeing conversations.

 

The webinar will be aired at four different times, to focus on different leadership roles in sport and how you can make a difference at your sports club. Whether you are a president, committee member, coach or team leader, there’s a webinar for you.

This will be the home of all rowing related training and coaching resources and information with access to material developed by our Victorian Institute of Sport experts!

Vicsport, along with People, Integrity and Culture Consulting, has released a survey for Victorian clubs, leagues and associations to provide feedback on the challenges of child safeguarding in grassroots sport.
