Melbourne University Boat Club would like to invite all Beginner and Intermediate School and Club Coxswains (and coaches of coxswains) to a series of complimentary Coxing information sessions to be held at MUBC.

The primary purpose of these sessions is to increase safety on the Yarra for all, in addition to introducing the sport of rowing to Beginner Coxswains, and to increase the skills of Intermediate Coxswains.

The Beginner’s session will be conducted in the last week of Term3 prior to the 2019/20 Rowing Season, and repeated in the first week of Term4. The Regatta’s session will be conducted in Term4.

Coxing for Beginners and Safety on the Yarra (2 hours) 16th Sept & 9th Oct at 6.30pm.

  1. Includes content from Rowing Victoria's GOOD COXSWAIN chapters 1-6 (the Cox and the Boat, Steering, using the Voice, Preparation for the water, Launching and Landing, Responsibilities on the water).
  2. Yarra Training and Rules.
  3. Walkaround the Boat, Shed and Landing.
  4. Please bring a pen and paper.

Coxing at Regattas for Beginners and Intermediates (1.5 hours) 7th Nov at 6.30pm.

  1. Includes content from Rowing Victoria's GOOD COXSWAIN chapters 7-12 (Coxswain as Coach, Race day preparation, Starting and Racing, Safety on the water, Drills, Coaching the coxswain).
