VICTORIAN PATHWAY TEAM

Would you like to take your rowing to the next level? Do you want to represent Victoria?

The Victorian Pathway Program aims to provide talented Victorian Rowers, Coxswains and Coaches an opportunity to work with the best. The program is designed to provide athletes the opportunity to continue in the sport after school through to Club, State and National level. Through this pathway program the athletes will gain valuable experience competing against the best in the country. It is a chance to experience the national rowing selection process, compete against their school counterparts from around the country, to work with high-level coaches & support staff and encourage school rowers to make the next step in their rowing pathway. Athletes will also be given the chance to meet and work with members of the Australian Rowing Team including athletes, physiotherapists, team doctors and coaches, both past and present.

All rowers, coxswains and coaches interested in being involved, please see below:

AIMS OF THE PROGRAM

  • Great development opportunity for school students under the age of 17 as of 31st December 2024.
  • Chance for school students to represent Victoria, which was previously not available in the sport.
  • Rowing Victoria focuses on 99% on the journey and 1% on the outcomes with selected athletes. The program has a journey focus as we understand the challenges of Year 12 and are keen to work with athletes long-term post high school rowing.
  • The program also encourages athletes to look outside of their respective school based programs and show that post school there remains a fun and competitive environment in clubs based all throughout the State.
  • The Victorian Pathway system aims to be a major contributor to the underage National Team, by supporting and developing athletes onto National underage teams to compete at: U23 World Championships, U21 Trans-Tasman regatta, Junior World Championships and World University Games.
