Rowing Victoria – Clubs, Competitors & Supporters Update

As you are aware, over the weekend the Government announced a number of changes in COVID management protocols; the COVIDSafe Summer restrictions. Many of which will affect our upcoming regattas and the operation of the clubs. We have been liaising closely with the Dept of Sport & Rec as many of the intricacies of these changes are not in the public domain. The implications of these changes are as follows:

Regattas

  • As we experienced over the weekend, the regatta schedules will be developed and potentially amended to meet the new Public Events Framework. This Framework is primarily developed to manage both attendee (competitors & spectator) limits and current density requirements to mitigate the transmission of COVID19 and manage contact tracing if transmission occurs.

  • The “arrive, compete, leave” rule no longer applies. Therefore, the regatta format and event schedule will reflect the opportunity to compete in more than one event per person.

  • For the high profile, high attendance (competitors and spectators) and multi day regattas being held in early 2021, new event protocols and permits are required. These new protocols (including spectator contact tracing where practical) and permits will allow us the return to our regattas as we know them. RV will be in touch with all upcoming regatta hosts and partners to ensure we can stay safe, stay racing.

  • If sharing equipment at regattas, it is to be washed with touch points disinfected between uses.

  • Wearing a face mask is strongly recommended when you can’t keep 1.5 metres distance from other people

  • It is planned that both spectators and supporter marquees can return in 2021.

Training/ Boat houses/ Clubrooms

  • Wearing a face mask is strongly recommended indoors and outdoors when you can’t keep 1.5m distance from other people.
  • Maximum of 50 people in the gym/ session excl. coach(es) at 1 person/ 4m2. Electronic record keeping recommended. Signage must state the number of people permitted inside the gym.
  • When gym is unsupervised, density quotient of 1 person/ 8m2 applies
  • Disinfectant must be supplied for use by users
  • No patron cap inside entire clubhouse/ social rooms but capacity subject to density quotient of 1person/ 2sqm, subject to use of electronic record keeping.  If not using electronic record keeping a density quotient of 1 per 4sqm applies.
  • Change rooms incl. showers can operate 1 person/ 4m2. Signage indicating max number of people allowed plus floor markings to promote physical distancing is advised.
  • If club is used for hospitality, hospitality guidelines apply for that space.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to reach out.

We look forward to seeing you on the water! Stay Safe, Stay Racing.
