RV Masters State Championship

Published Tue 02 May 2023

It is unfortunate and regrettable that we need to confirm that the Master’s State Championships will be held over 1 day, Saturday May 6.

As a member based organisation, all attempts have been made to address the concerns raised over the past 24hrs and revert the regatta to its original 2-day format. However, in consultation with the Umpire’s Commission, it’s apparent, despite additional call outs, that there are not enough volunteers available to safely and fairly run a regatta on Sunday, hence the disappointing confirmation of the decision to the change in format. It was deemed better to communicate this change as soon as possible so that planning by all parties, clubs and crews for a 1 day regatta could proceed.

The number of entries showed us that the original listed events could be raced in the one day. We do acknowledge however that a number of athletes have entered multiple races which, to be raced in one day, may not be feasible. Therefore, Entries will be reopened until midday on Wednesday so scratchings/crew alterations can be made without penalty. Any changes may alter the published times and a new schedule will be posted Wednesday evening. If the regatta is shortened, it will likely start later.

We appreciate the disappointment, frustration and the emails that people have taken time to compile, which will be replied to over the coming days.

We acknowledge that this position is not what people were wishing to read, however, as has always been the case, the safety of the community is our number one concern.
